Five years after crude began its plunge to less than $30 a barrel from more than $100, the companies that drill and frack wells are living in a new world. The producers they work for have become increasingly efficient and cost-conscious, reacting to shareholder demands for payback and a crude market that's recovered only part of that brutal decline. Meanwhile, the service companies that handed out discounts in the downturn are barely holding on.

That is instead of stocks being powered by the healthier combination of valuation expansion and rising earnings estimates on Wall Street, in large part because Corporate America is in fine health. As a result of the lingering trade war, an argument could be made that Corporate America has caught a flu and doesn't deserve its loftier valuations. FactSet says out of the 113 S&P 500 companies that have issued second quarter guidance, 87 have served up earnings warnings.
Households that spend a lot on health care already would be most likely to see the benefit. Sanders, a top contender for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, says the savings would come from eliminating insurance premiums, co-pays and out-of-pocket expenses, he said in an interview with National Public Radio on Monday. Under his Medicare For All plan, Sanders says Americans could erase $20,000 of annual private health care expenses for $10,000 in additional taxes.
A hedge fund run by a protege of Appaloosa Management's David Tepper and the chief executive officer of a conservative think tank sued Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, saying $14.3 billion of bonds should be invalidated because their issuance violated the state constitution. Warlander Asset Management, a New York-based hedge fund formed by Eric Cole, and John Tillman, the CEO of the Illinois Policy Institute, said the state's record pension bond sale in 2003 and debt issued in 2017 to pay a backlog of unpaid bills were deficit financings prohibited by the constitution. The lawsuit was filed Monday in Sangamon County circuit court.
This is because there are many reasons why an officer or a director of a company may decide to sell their stock — they could simply need the money — but an insider will only buy a stock for one reason! They believe that the stock is undervalued and that they will make a profit. F-Rated Stocks to Sell for Summer Due to the significant insider buying that has recently occurred, these stocks came up on my radar screen as potential investments to consider.

Southern Co (SO) Dividend Yield: 4.49% Year-to-date gain: 27.9% No list of stocks to buy and hold forever would be complete without a utility stock. In good times and bad, consumers almost always pay their electricity bill. And, even though margins are thin and power providers don't have a ton of pricing power, they have little competition in most markets.
How much does claiming Social Security too early cost you? Retirees will lose an average of $111,000 in income per household because they took Social Security benefits too early into their retirement, rather than draw down on their own savings first, according to a new study released Friday from United Income, a technology wealth management company. Overall, only 4% of retirees took Social Security at the financially optimal age, which, for 83.4% of them, was age 67 or older.

As it enters its 11th year, America's economic expansion is now the longest on record — a streak that has shrunk unemployment, swelled household wealth, revived the housing market and helped fuel an explosive rise in the stock market. Yet even after a full decade of uninterrupted economic growth, the richest Americans now hold a greater share of the nation's wealth than they did before the Great Recession began in 2007. Utility stocks were supposed to be yesterday's favorite investment. SHANGHAI/BEIJING (Reuters) - Shanghai-based Buick dealer Ron Li in late April found himself in an unfamiliar quandary: how to sell off almost 80 sedans and sport-utility vehicles crowding up his dealership lot. The crux of the problem: a June 30 deadline for cars built to so-called China-5 emissions standards to be sold. To cope, his dealership in May slashed stage-5 vehicle prices by as much as 30%, participating in what dealers and industry executives have called unprecedented widespread discounting as China's auto sales headed for their worst ever monthly drop.
